Minesight was originally developed by Mintec, founded by Mine Planning Engineer Fred Banfield, based in Tuscon Arizona. It grew to be a leading Mine Planning solution covering all aspects of geology and mine planning. In its early days it built strong relationships with the consulting industry in North and South America. While a versatile tool, it had a strong reputation in the areas of stratified and seam type deposits and for providing specialised solutions for projects with complex modelling and planning requirements.
In April 2014 Mintec was acquired by Hexagon.
