GIOTTO PLUS can now correct optical aberrations (barrel and pincushion distortions): this means that you can use cheap digital came ras and still produce good quality works even if starting from optically distorted images. The new cost estimating capabilities make our solution one of the most complete and affordable in the market.
Giotto Plus has been designed in such a way that you can avoid the use of more than one application to get an high quality image rectification and next a vectorial drawing of the object. Of course, our solution allows you to export the finished drawing as DXF/DWG© and to export rectified and mosaicized images as any of the most common raster image formats. The integrated CAD has been fine tuned to help you rectify images in a few mouse clicks. Image scaling and georeferencing is easy and precise. Computing of lengths and areas is straightforward. Thanks to the flexible layering system, the areas of the closed polylines that have been placed in the same layer get automatically summed and a cost estimating report is generated (by assigning a price per area unit to any of the layers that you want to be accounted for in the computation).Image rectification can be executed with two distinct methods: by reference lines (vanishing lines) and by control points. With the first method, by reference lines, the user draws four lines that tell the program the angulation of the horizontal and vertical lines of the object. With the second method, by control points, the user draws at least four control points and assigns them their real coordinates (on the plane of the object). When the dimensions of the object to be rectified are very large, or when it is not possibile to move far away from the object to take a complete photo, you can take two or more partially overlapping photos and then compose a photo-mosaic by first rectifing each single photo. Photo-mosaicing can be computed by two methods: by georeferecing and by named control points. The first method consists in the definition of a reference system of coordinates that extends on all photos (i.e. by a land survey). The second method consists in drawing points on common features found in the overlapping areas of the images and giving such control points a name (code) in a way that points drawn over the same feature share the same name (code).
